About the Event
The education, training and experience pipeline is critical to the goal of improving Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander representation in the Australian health Sector.
This workshop is for a selected participants in the higher education and VET sector to contribute to the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Workforce Plan. The workshop will explore the results of the national consultations and consider specific implementation actions for the education sector.

OVERVIEW OF DAY
At the Workshop we will be explore:
- Complementary and alternative education approaches to meet the targets COAH Health Council has set to increase the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander representation in the health Workforce;
- How to grow qualified and experienced Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander representation in the health workforce, across traditional and non-traditional roles; and
- How to strengthen the health system to create and sustain its cultural, operational and professional capability and functioning in support of improved attraction, retention and career progression of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff.
The Commonwealth Department of Health is leading the development of the Workforce Plan and has engaged Cultural Fusion to progress this work. Cultural Fusion is undertaking an extensive national consultation process and will be managing and faciliating the regional workshops.
